    Winter Lacrosse League

The Connecticut Winter Indoor Lacrosse League is a unique opportunity for our young lacrosse players as well as their coaches to work on developing important fundamentals, both individually and in two- and three-person teammate combinations. The format of the game is full equipment, either three (3) players versus three (3) players in the BANTAM division (NO GOALIES) or five (5) versus five (5) players in the LIGHTNING &  JUNIOR/ SENIOR divisions.  These formats allow for much more player-specific coaching and player engagement which results in exponential player development. Please note: in certain games goalies may in fact be used in order to properly develop the position. We believe the 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 formats are the single most effective programs for individual youth skills development (both offensive and defensive) because each player is intensely involved in game play every second they are on the field! See our “Winter Lacrosse Rules” for the specific policies and rules of our League.

The Winter Lacrosse Season will consist of six (6) weeks of development including:

    •  1-week of jamboree-style preseason scrimmages
    •            4-weeks of regular season games
    •            1-week of “round-robin” playoffs (every team participates)

All games in the BANTAM, LIGHTNING and JUNIOR/SENIOR divisions will be played on Saturday afternoons at the CT Sports Center, located at 21 South Bradley Road in Woodbridge (between 3-7pm).  **NOTE: The BANTAM location was changed to CT Sports Center in Woodbridge. The cost of the Winter Lacrosse League is $150 per player.

    Divisions/ Format

    1. Bantam (Grades: 2nd & 3rd) / 3-versus-3 (Teams of 6-8 players)
    2. Lightning (Grades: 4th - 6th) / 5-versus-5 (Teams of 10-12 players)
    3. Juniors/Seniors (Grades: 7th & 8th) / 5-versus-5 (Teams of 10-12 players)

Our League is grade-based. Players may “play up” a division if their coaches and parents desire but players may not “play down” a division under any circumstances. Divisions are subject to change based on participation. Bantam teams must consist of a minimum of 6 players and a maximum of 8 players; Lightning and Junior/Senior teams must consist of 10-12 players. The Connecticut Speed School will assign individual players to teams based on age, hometown lacrosse affiliation and ability. “Team” and “Individual Player” registration is available.  Please register online by clicking ONLINE REGISTRATION in the upper righthand corner of the website.
